Everything Belongs to God
Genesis 2:4-15
The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it.
-Psalm 24:1 (NRSV)
(below from http://upperroom.org/)
I live in a country where the standard of living is high. But our lifestyle has far-reaching effects. If everyone used as many of Earth's resources per person as we do in Denmark, we would need about two extra planets the size of this one to sustain the world's population.
God created the world and saw that it was good. God gave humans the responsibility of being stewards of creation. But we use nature as if it were an infinite resource. We treat creation as if we own it and can use it as we please.
We do not own Earth. God does. Just as children are a gift and a responsibility for their parents, God's gift of planet Earth comes with responsibility for its care. God's creation sustains our existence, providing land, water, and the air that keeps us alive.
When I make decisions -- choices about food, clothing, transportation -- I try to remember that the earth belongs to God. I am part of God's creation, and God's creation keeps me alive. Creation is God's way of taking care of us.
Hanna Smidt (Hovedstaden, Denmark)
Thank you, God, for creating the world and all that is in it: friends, family, fish, spiders, swallows, wheat, water, and oxygen. Forgive us when we abuse your good gifts. Help us to make responsible choices that help other people and honor your creation. Amen.
To see how many globes would be needed if everyone were to live as you live, go to http://www.footprintnetwork.org/.
To be good stewards of creation

Destruction of the Gulf of Mexico Video~Must SEE!!!
By Renee Schoof and Karen Nelson McClatchy Newspapers
WASHINGTON — Oil from a ruptured drilling rig could harm all kinds of marine life in the Gulf of Mexico, from the Atlantic tarpon and bluefin tuna that have key spawning areas nearby to endangered sea turtles, commercial fisheries, migrating song birds and marine mammals.
The spill gushed oil at the rate of about 210,000 gallons a day on Thursday and was headed toward the wetlands and shrimp, crab and oyster nurseries of Louisiana, possibly arriving overnight Thursday. It's too early to know the toll yet, and the worst damage is expected when the oil hits wetlands and beaches. Still, experts say that one of the nation's biggest oil spills threatens many animals in the open water as well.
Fast currents and strong winds could spread the steady flow of black goop over wide areas, just at a time when birds are migrating north and some big fish are heading into that part of the Gulf to spawn.
"The timing couldn't be worse for a number of fish," said Jerald Ault, a professor of marine biology at the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.
Atlantic tarpon, an important sport fish in Florida, spawn from now to mid May in the Gulf and they'll be "right in the highway where this stuff is going to come through." The young are especially vulnerable to toxics from the oil spill, and the fishery already is in a precarious state, Ault said.
The overfished Atlantic bluefin tuna return from vast distances to spawn in an area very close to the spill, where the water is warm and full of nutrients flowing from the Mississippi River. The same area also supports the shrimp industry and many other fish.
The conservation group Oceana in 2005 mapped a hot spot of bluefin tuna sightings near the damaged rig.
Fast currents and winds will move the oil generally south and east, possibly around Florida and up the East Coast as far as Cape Hatteras in North Carolina, Ault said.
"A major concern to me is the coral reef ecosystem on the tip of Florida. Technically it's the only living coral system in the continental U.S., and it's a really sensitive system," Ault said.
Coast Guard officials worked to put booms to protect environmentally sensitive areas. They also spread chemicals that disperse the oil. Officials also set up five staging areas — in Biloxi and Pascagoula, Miss., Pensacola, Fla. Venice, La., and Theodore, Ala. — to protect sensitive areas on shore.
Coast Guard Rear Adm. Sally Brice-O'Hara said there had been no reports of oil-damaged wildlife found as yet. Much will depend on how the oil travels and how effective the booms are in containing it, she said.
The Gulf also is home to endangered sea turtles that are crossing the Gulf now, moving to their nesting grounds on sandy beaches.
There are four species of sea turtles in the Gulf, and all of them are endangered. "Obviously, they don't need any more insults than what they're already exposed to," said Jackie Savitz, the pollution campaign director at the conservation group Oceana.
Turtles and marine mammals usually don't try to avoid oil slicks, she said. They run into trouble when they eat oil or it blocks their airways.
Savitz predicted the spill would have high costs for tourism and fisheries.
"Louisiana, after Alaska, is the second largest seafood producing state," said Ralph Portier, a microbiology professor at Louisiana State University who has worked around the world cleaning up oil spills.
Portier grew up in southern Louisiana, where rich fisheries and oil have long co-existed, much as they've done in Alabama, Texas and Mississippi.
The oil headed toward that area would harm its oyster industry and could have a significant effect on crab and shrimp nursery areas.
"Every crevice, creek, bayou, bay, where water flows in and out of coastal grasses — that's the habitat for all these coastal nurseries. If we lose it or it's impacted, we have a real long-term effect," Portier said.
The Gulf Restoration Network is particularly concerned about a pod of sperm whales that feeds in the area covered by the oil sheen, said Aaron Viles, the conservation group's campaign director.
Its other top concerns include the least tern, an endangered shore bird; the brown pelican, the state bird of Louisiana, and migratory birds heading north over the Gulf.
Mozart Dedeaux, education director of the Pascagoula River Audubon in Mississippi, said the outlook was bad for birds along the Louisiana and Mississippi Coast because this is breeding season for many shore and sea birds.
Those breeding areas under immediate threat include the Chandeleur Islands and Gulf Islands National Seashore in Louisiana and Mississippi and the Active Delta in Louisiana, which includes Delta National Wildlife Refuge and Pass-a-Loutre Wildlife Management Area.
Dedeaux said Audubon was putting out a call for people trained in rehabilitating oil-coated wildlife.
"The efforts to stop the oil before it reaches shore are heroic, but may not be enough," added Melanie Driscoll an Audubon bird conservation director. "We have to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst, including a true catastrophe for birds."

California's Local Guidelines
http://www.safeaccessnow.net/countyguidelines.htm
Patients can have any amount of cannabis consistent with their personal medical needs. Patients and caregivers with a state-issued ID card are immune from arrest and allowed to possess the amounts below. Patients and caregivers without a state-issued ID card are subject to case-by-case scrutiny. Patients keep their right to defend gardens and dosages of any amount in court. However staying within local guidelines significantly reduces the likelihood that a patient or caregiver will face legal problems. We recommend that you stay comfortably below the upper limits.

California's Local Guidelines
These limits are not legally binding, other than for purposes of immunity from arrest and prosecution; they are floor amounts intended to provide a safe harbor of immunity for any patient with a bona fide recommendation to be presumed in compliance with California Health and Safety Code HS 11362.5 (Prop 215), as long as there is no indicia of sales or commercial production. The affirmative defense remains for patients in possession of larger amounts. Collectives and patients charged with intent to sell should take note of special provisions in HS 11362.7. Larger amounts may be authorized by local cities or counties.
SB 420 Statewide Default Patient Guidelines: To be as safe as possible from arrest and prosecution, patients and caregivers should stay below the medical marijuana immunity law passed by the California legislature, HS 11362.77, which sets a minimum statewide guideline of 6 mature plants OR 12 immature plants AND up to 8 ounces of processed cannabis flowers. Physician's note exempts larger amounts. Cities and counties empowered to set guidelines that are greater than those amounts, but not less. This is explained in an open letter from the authors of the bill. Also see the Supreme Court's Wright decision at chrisconrad.com/expert.witness/wright.html.
To learn more about the history of implementation and malfeasance towards California's medical marijuana laws, visit ccrmg.org/projects.html
The California Attorney General has issued his own set of guidelines. These are not binding law, but give an idea of how prosecutors will consider the circumstances of a medical marijuana patient or garden.
Federal law does not recognize medical marijuana and the Raich decision affirmed their power to prosecutes cases that are legal under state law. Federal law does not "trump" state law, it is a seperate jurisdiction.
Cannabis guidelines adopted by Cities
City of Arcata
Ordinance: ID card system maintained by Chief of Police. 10 plants + 2 # dried.
City of Berkeley
Ordinance: up to 10 plants and 2.5 lbs per patient; collectives up to 50 plants and 12.5 lbs total at any given time.
Caregiver amounts calculated on the above numbers per patient served.
City of Oakland
Ordinance: Indoors -- Up to 72 plants with up to 32 square feet of canopy and 3 # dried bud. Caregiver amounts calculated on the above numbers per patient served. Outdoors -- 20 plants at any stage of developmen and 3 # dried bud.
Effective June 1, 2004: Collectives not to exceed three patient members. Only four licensed dispensaries to be allowed by the City. Dispensaries limited to 8 ounces and 6 mature plus 12 immature plants per patient member at any given time. No on-site consumption allowed.
Original policy from 1998: Outdoors - 30 mature plants (60 if less than 30 are flowering); Indoors 144 -- 48 mature plants + 96 immature vegetative and/or 1.5 # or 6 # (if patient grew).
City of San Diego
Still in development: Current version 9/17/03: Adult marijuana patients with the approval of a San Diego County doctor may keep up to 1 pound of marijuana and grow up to 24 plants. Under the measure, caregivers can keep up to 2 pounds of marijuana and grow up to 48 plants for as many as four patients.The ordinance must come back for a final vote, as a procedural matter, to be enacted.
City of San Jose
No quantity limits are established. Officers will not cite or arrest physicians, primary caregivers, or patients possessing or using marijuana for legitimate medicinal purposes in accordance with 11362.5 H&S. Standards of reasonableness in deciding enforcement issues are similar to those in needle or drug possession cases where a prescription is claimed or in a gun possession case where a permit is claimed. It should be kept in mind that mere oral approval by the physician is all that is necessary to comply with the law. Standards of probable cause for a vehicle search, person search, arrest, or a search warrant request should take into account known facts regarding the permitted uses of marijuana under Proposition 215.
City of Santa Cruz
No quantity guidelines; city ordinance regulates cannabis clubs, allows physician's diagnosis for recommendation.
City of Santa Rosa
Ordinance: Safe Access Guidelines, same as the County of Sonoma. For more information, contact Sonoma Alliance for Medical Marijuana.
City of Sebastopol
Ordinance: Safe Access Guidelines, same as the County of Sonoma. For more information, contact Sonoma Alliance for Medical Marijuana; letter to DA asks to protect patients with 4.5# and 150 square feet of garden canopy.
On 3/17/09, in an unanimous vote Sebastopol City Council approved the following four changes to the Medical Marijuana Dispensing Ordinance: 1. Extend hours of operation to 9 pm from 8 pm, Sunday through Thursday and 7 pm, Friday and Saturday; 2. Add the use of the California State Medical Marijuana Identification card and Patient ID Center Identification card as proof of patient status; 3. Remove the 30 immature plant limitation from retail sales; 4. Allow 150 sq. ft. for display and sale of medical use devices

God Knows by Bob Dylan 1990:
`````````````````````````````````
God knows you ain’t pretty,
God knows it’s true.
God knows there ain’t anybody
Ever gonna take the place of you.
God knows it’s a struggle,
God knows it’s a crime,
God knows there’s gonna be no more water
But fire next time.
God don’t call it treason,
God don’t call it wrong,
It was supposed to last a season
But it’s been so strong for so long.
God knows it’s fragile,
God knows everything,
God knows it could snap apart right now
Just like putting scissors to a string.
God knows it’s terrifying,
God sees it all unfold,
There’s a million reasons for you to be crying
You been so bold and so cold.
God knows that when you see it,
God knows you’ve got to weep,
God knows the secrets of your heart,
He’ll tell them to you when you’re asleep.
God knows there’s a river,
God knows how to make it flow,
God knows you ain’t gonna be taking
Nothing with you when you go.
God knows there’s a purpose,
God knows there’s a chance,
God knows you can rise above the darkest hour
Of any circumstance.
God knows there’s a heaven,
God knows it’s out of sight,
God knows we can get all the way from here to there
Even if we’ve got to walk a million miles by candlelight.
George McMahon
George McMahon wrote a book (with author/filmmaker Christopher Largen) called "Prescription Pot" in 2003. Since 1997 he has been on a national tour, speaking of his experience as a recipient of medical marijuana. McMahon uses marijuana to relieve pain, spasms and nausea related to repeated surgical and pharmaceutical maltreatment and Nail Patella Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that can cause minor to major skeletal deformities, kidney diseases, misshapen nails, and can make one more prone to glaucoma and scoliosis. He had been hospitalized several times due to side effects of other drugs he was prescribed and he found marijuana made him as comfortable as possible without the side effects of strong prescribed medications. Prior to being accepted to the federal cannabis program in 1990, McMahon had lived through 19 major surgeries, been declared clinically dead five times and was taking 17 different pharmaceutical substances daily, including 400 morphine tablets each month. For the past 18 years, McMahon has smoked 10 cannabis cigarettes daily. During this time he has had no surgeries or hospitalizations and he no longer uses any pharmaceutical drugs except cannabis.
Elvy Musikka
Elvy Musikka was born with congenital cataracts and developed glaucoma in her thirties. Surgery caused her to lose vision in her right eye. She takes marijuana to lessen the pressure on her left eye.
Irvin Rosenfeld
Irvin Rosenfeld, who joined the program in 1983, is the most public of the remaining patients and has been using legal federal marijuana for the longest amount of time. He has been featured in numerous print articles and on the Penn & Teller: Bullshit! cable television series. Rosenfeld has the disease Multiple Congenital Cartilaginous Exostoses, a painful disorder which causes bone tumors to form at the joints, stretching the surrounding tendons and veins, making movement almost impossible. Rosenfeld has had 30 tumors removed in six operations. He still has 200 tumors, some too small to remove, yet in the 30 years he has been smoking marijuana, he says, he has not had a new tumor. Irvin Rosenfeld is a successful stock broker working and living in South Florida.
"Life is Short" ~ Where "Help" comes from.
Righteousness ~ ~ ~ (born > 02~02~1959 > 51st B~day)
Don’t worry about the wicked
or envy those who do wrong.
For like grass, they soon fade away.
Like spring flowers, they soon wither.
Trust in Jah and do good.
Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
Take delight in righteousness,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.
Commit everything you do to Jah.
Trust him, and he will help you.
He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn,
and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.
Be still in the presence of Jah,
and wait patiently for him to act.
Don’t worry about evil people who prosper
or fret about their wicked schemes.
Stop being angry!
Turn from your rage!
Do not lose your temper—
it only leads to harm.
For the wicked will be destroyed,
but those who trust in Jah will possess the land.
Soon the wicked will disappear.
Though you look for them, they will be gone.
The lowly will possess the land
and will live in peace and prosperity.
The wicked plot against the godly;
they snarl at them in defiance.
But Jah just knows,
for he sees their day coming.
The wicked draw their swords
and string their bows
to kill the poor and the oppressed,
to slaughter those who do right.But their swords will stab their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.
It is better to be godly and have little
than to be evil and rich.
For the strength of the wicked will be shattered,
but the Jah takes care of the godly.
Day by day Jah takes care of the innocent,
and they will receive an inheritance that lasts forever.
They will not be disgraced in hard times;
even in famine they will have more than enough.
But the wicked will die.
The Jah’s enemies are like flowers in a field—
they will disappear like smoke.
The wicked borrow and never repay,
but the godly are generous givers.
Those Jah blesses will possess the land,
but those he lets will die.
The Jah directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble, they will never fall,
for the Jah holds them by the hand.
Once I was young, and now I am old.
Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned
or their children begging for bread.
The godly always give generous loans to others,
and their children are a blessing.
Turn from evil and do good,
and you will live in the land forever.
For Jah loves justice,
and he will never abandon the godly.
He will keep them safe forever,
but the children of the wicked will die.
The godly will possess the land
and will live there forever.
The Righteous offer good counsel;
they teach right from wrong.
They have made Jah’s law their own,
so they will never slip from his path.
The wicked wait in ambush for the godly,
looking for an excuse to kill them.
But Jah will not let the wicked succeed
or let the godly be condemned when they are put on trial.
Jah Put your hope in Jah.
Travel steadily along his path.
He will honor you by giving you the land.
You will see the wicked destroyed.
I have seen wicked and ruthless people
flourishing like a tree in its native soil.
But when I looked again, they were gone!
Though I searched for them, I could not find them!
Look at those who are honest and good,
for a wonderful future awaits those who love peace.
But the rebellious will be destroyed;
they have no future.
Jah rescues the godly;
he is their fortress in times of trouble.
Jah helps them,
rescuing them from the wicked.
He saves them,
and they find shelter in him.
Interesting Facts about Cannabis - Marijuana, Weed, Dope, Blow, Hemp...
Cannabis contains more than 400 chemicals. The main psychoactive ingredient is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or 'THC'. Cannabis became a controlled substance in Britain in 1928 44% of 16 to 29 year-olds have tried cannabis at some point in their lives. Half of them have used it in the last year. In 1998, 76% of people arrested for drugs offences in Britain were charged with possession of cannabis. Smoking marijuana is more popular in America than surfing the Internet.
Ganja, marijuana, weed, puff, smoke, pot, herb, dope, resin, grass, there are hundreds of names to describe it. But, call it what you want, the recreational use of cannabis is still illegal in Britain, although that hasn't stopped around half of all young people trying it.
Origin of the Species
The drug itself is derived from Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica, a plant related to nettles and hops that grows wild in many parts of the world. Cultivation dates back thousands of years. The first written account of cannabis use can be found in Chinese records dating from 2800 BC. However, experts widely accept that cannabis was being used for medical, recreational and religious purposes for thousands of years before that.
The plant is believed to have originated in the mountainous regions of India. When left growing wild, it can reach a height of 5 metres and flowers naturally from late summer to mid autumn. Customs estimate that up to 80% of cannabis resin entering the UK originates from Morocco and most smuggled supplies in its herbal form come from Jamaica. However, an enormous amount of cannabis these days is actually home-grown.
